Getting started

1. Install the app

Download Model Colors from the App Store. It runs on iPhone, iPad and the Mac (iOS/macOS 26 or later) and uses iCloud / iCloud Drive to store your collection and builds, so make sure you're signed in to iCloud.

2. Browse a brand

Open a paint range and scroll its colors, or search to jump straight to a paint by name or code.

3. Mark what you own or need to buy

Tap a color to add it to your collection or to your shopping list. Paints you own are then shown in the Stash view and things you need to buy in the Shopping List view.

4. Find a match

Pick a color and Model Colors shows the closest paints in other ranges, ranked by color difference — handy when a build sheet calls for a paint you don't have.

5. Track a build

Create a model, add photos and build notes, and log your progress as you paint.
